Composite materials offer good opportunities to construct pressure vessels as an alternative to metal tanks. In situations where tanks are applied for transportation, reduced weight will result in cost savings and more sustainable logistics.
Following its intergral approach, CPT concluded that the most optimal and efficient way to produce lightweight tanks or vessels, is by a one-step filament winding process. This as an alternative to the standard segmented production of composite tanks.
CPT managed to develop a process concept on a pilot scale. This concept has been redesigned and scaled up for the production of composite tanks for a new generation of lightweight tank containers.
